As a long-time Plex server/app user who has recently switched to Emby, their software works great. I made the switch once they supported hardware accelerated HDR color mapping since many of my clients are not UHD, and need conversion. Emby puts MY MEDIA first unlike Plex, which shoves their online content in your face every chance they get, all the while ignoring issues from paying users. Recently, Emby wasn't showing movie/TV trailers on my Nvidia Shield TV 2019 model. I googled it, found a thread where someone posted the issue, where the Emby devs saw it, responded and fixed it promptly and it's now working. I'm running the server on Unraid in a docker with clients running on everything from web browsers, android and ios phones, and android/ios based dedicated streaming clients, and it just works. This is a great app. I think that there must be some confusion here. Remember that the Shield Emby app is a client. There needs to be an Emby server app somewhere on the network. I am running the server on my iMac. I run it over wi-fi and Emby runs anything I throw it. Makes Kodi seem archaic.
